Program: Union shocked at the closure of Boags Brewery

The northern Tasmanian brewery Boag's has announced plans to cease production in the state by November.

The brewery's owner Lion says it will pay back a 1-million dollar Tasmanian government loan used to redevelop their brew house.

The Launceston brewery. which opened  in 1881, currently employs 42 people.

In a statement, the company apologised for the 'negative impact' of the decision, citing rising production costs for the brewery no longer being viable.

Amy Lambert from the United Workers Union told Tony Briscoe they were shocked at the announcement
