F1 Monaco Grand Prix: Kimi Antonelli wins after red flag, Oscar Piastri promoted to fourth

Oscar Piastri has been promoted to fourth place following a chaotic Monaco Grand Prix, where seven drivers failed to see the chequered flag and Kimi Antonelli produced a flawless drive to win.
Mercedes driver Antonelli led every lap from pole position to claim his fifth consecutive grand prix victory and establish a 66-point advantage in the Formula 1 drivers' championship.
The Italian teen had a massive lead until two separate crashes at the final corner by Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) led to the race being red-flagged with 10 laps to go, so race organisers could investigate and clean up a section of the track that appeared to be deteriorating.
From a second standing start, Antonelli held his nerve to outgun Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton to the finish line.
"To be fair, I wasn't super keen on restarting, but I gathered my emotions, my thoughts and just tried to refocus on restarting," Antonelli said of the crucial restart that sealed his win.
"We had such incredible pace, it was all coming so natural. The car was incredible and gave me confidence to push."
Antonelli's teammate George Russell failed to score for a second consecutive grand prix, receiving a late drive-through penalty that dropped him from third well outside the top 10.
It means the 19-year-old Antonelli holds a 66-point championship lead over Ferrari's Hamilton, who jumped ahead of Russell after finishing second in Monaco.
"It is still a long season, and we need to keep pushing and keep raising the bar, and the goal is to keep performing like this,' Antonelli said.
Starting seventh, Piastri immediately rose to sixth in his McLaren after Red Bull's Max Verstappen dropped from the front row to dead last on the opening lap, with the Red Bull driver forced to retire as his car had no power.
Piastri was on his own in sixth for much of the race, unable to match the pace of those in front.
For a second straight race, reigning world champion Lando Norris, Piastri's teammate, was forced to retire with a mechanical issue.
Piastri's hopes of finishing higher than sixth appeared dashed when he was penalised for speeding in the pit lane, an issue that plagued five drivers, including Hamilton, Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly, who were all penalised five seconds.
Stroll's crash at the final corner on lap 60 brought out the first of two safety cars, with most drivers coming in to pit.
Piastri served his penalty and dropped to seventh, but Mercedes did not wait five seconds before working on Russell's car. That led to Russell copping the drive-through penalty, which took him out of the top 10.
Leclerc then crashed in the same spot as Stroll on the restart after the safety car, prompting race organisers to clean a section of the track that appeared to be breaking apart.
Gasly was then penalised again for speeding in the pit lane, meaning he had a 10-second time penalty added when he crossed the finish line.
The Frenchman crossed the line third but was demoted to seventh with the penalty, allowing Red Bull's Isack Hadjar to claim third, and Piastri promoted to fourth.
Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad took advantage of the misfortune of others to finish fifth and sixth for Racing Bulls.
Alex Albon was eighth for Williams, ahead of Haas driver Esteban Ocon.
Cadillac's Sergio Perez was promoted to 10th after Nico Hulkenberg was penalised late for causing a collision.
But the Mexican was handed a 10-second time penalty post-race for not correctly lining up in the grid box for the second restart.
This took away what would have been Cadillac's first point ever in F1.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was promoted to 10th, scoring that team's first point of the season.

George Russell reflects on another race of no points
George Russell was leading in Canada when his engine failed.
Today, he was up to third when he was forced to serve a drive-through penalty.
He was originally given a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, which so many drivers got it looks odd.
When he pitted under the safety car, his team did not wait five seconds, meaning he copped a drive-through penalty.
Here is what he told Sky Sports:
In the pit stop, just major confusion and getting a drive-through - the punishment doesn't fit the crime," he said,
"The rules are the rules, if you don't serve the penalty, it is a drive-through.
I don't know what to say.
Two races in a row; could have won last week, could have been P3, P4 today. That is 40 points down the drain.

Lewis Hamilton after finishing second in Monaco
Here are the words of Lewis Hamilton after the Ferrari driver finished second in Monaco.
I have to start by congratulating Kimi and my old Mercedes team … Kimi is delivering weekend in, weekend out.
We have been progressing over the past few months, we can't keep up with them yet.
But to get another second place in Monaco under the hardest conditions, I'll definitely take it.
The car is good, but we need more downforce ultimately and with the different scenarios we had out there, holding onto the tyres was tough.

Isack Hadjar speaks after finishing third
Isack Hadjar is third — for now.
The Red Bull driver struggled all day with power issues. If he does survive the steward's investigation, this will be a magnificent result.
Within the first 10-15 laps I started having massive driveability issues, if there is one track you don't want that it is here. It was massively challenging, even at the end I was lacking power at the restart.
