In short:

In March, Australia sent a Wedgetail military aircraft and support personnel to the UAE at the gulf kingdom's request as "defensive support".

New reports that the UAE has carried out military strikes on Iran recasts the country as an active combatant in the Iran war, rather than just a target.

The Albanese government insists this does not mean Australia is involved in any "offensive action against Iran".
