Coalition candidates tapping into community concern about crime ahead of federal election

Public opinion polling suggests an increase in the proportion of voters who list crime as one of their top priorities ahead of the federal election.

While national statistics do not reflect a significant increase in crime rates across the board, the Coalition has been campaigning on the issue, promising to "take crime seriously".
